Thirsty Thursday: A Night at Alibi

Have you been to The Liberty Hotel and the phenomenal bars & restaurants inside? I've been on quite a few occasions (including my bachelorette party!) and had the opportunity to return to Alibi on Tuesday for an Equinox gym member event. 

For the non-Bostonians, The Liberty is the old Charles Street Jail, which has been renovated into a luxury hotel. Alibi is an indoor/outdoor cocktail bar that is worth a visit next time you are in town.

Equinox rented out the entire space, indoors and out, and threw quite the event, complete with a band, hors d'oeuvres, and four signature cocktails. I had the American Mule and Strawberry Bloom (and Rachel tried the Raspberry Limeade). Strawberry Bloom was a personal favorite, and a recipe I'll be recreating this summer. Very refreshing! 

Thirsty Thursday: Favorite Boston Spots

This week we've decided to round up some of our favorite watering holes in Boston. In most areas of the city you can stumble out of one "bahh" and into the next. But these are the places we find ourselves frequenting, and where we can always run into a friend or two.

Drink of Choice: Whiskey Smash

Close second & third - Neighboring spots Island Creek Oyster & Hawthorne (same owners). Eastern Standard wins because of its fantastic patio!

Drink of Choice: Sangria

Great views, fun crowd, delicious drinks (and food). The only way that you can go wrong at Legals is if you get there too late and have to wait in line.

Drink of Choice: Bud LIght Lime

Nothing says summer quite like a bucket of Bud Light Limes on the waterfront at The Landing. Get the fishbowl if you're feeling adventurous.

O'LEARY'S

Drink of Choice: Perfectly poured pint of Guinness

This one is off the beaten path, but is a staple of ours in the cooler months. A true Irish pub with a cast of regulars and a scrumptious chicken pot pie. If you're in for a more rowdy Irish experience, The Black Rose in the Fanueil Hall area also pours a good Guinness and has live Irish music daily.

Drink of Choice: Margaritas

Looking for strong, expertly crafted margs on the waterfront? This is the place to go. Sunset Cantina is another go-to spot for margaritas, when we're on the other side of town.

PARISH CAFE

Drink of Choice: Great beer selection (or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc)

And last but certainly not least, Parish Cafe, where we're members of the Mug Club. A couple of years ago, we were crazy enough to sign up to try 100 different beers within 6 months (you now have to try 125 beers). If you complete the challenge, your "trophy" is your own personal mug that will always be waiting for you at the bar. Guess what Amanda's mug says...

Where: Harpoon Brewery Tour & Beer Hall

Neighborhood: Seaport

Address: 306 Northern Ave, Boston

What: Informative & entertaining tour, delicious beer, and the best pretzels you've ever had. 

Drink: Sample a little bit of everything on the tour, or with a flight. Personal favorite is UFO White, and the new Long Thaw was good!

Eat: Pretzels. Get both salty and sweet...you won't regret it.

When: We went for a birthday party (Happy B-day Tess!) but it is a fun activity anytime. Not a dinner spot - pretzels only.

Why: Love beer. Love life. Harpoon.

 

 

PS - They host events! You can arrange a private tour, and the back of the beer hall is also available to rent out with catering. Amanda's rehearsal dinner was there!

Where: Max Brenner Chocolate Bar

Neighborhood: Back Bay

Address: 745 Boylston Street, Boston

What: Good eats, chocolate-y drinks, and delicious desserts. 

Drink: If you like Guinness, give the Double Chocolate Stout a try!

Eat: We started with the spinach & artichoke dip (chips & fries are dusted with cocoa powder and cayenne...yum!), shared a waffle sandwich, and finished the meal with some churros made in-house, with various fondue dips! 

When: Stopped in for dinner, but would also be a fun stop for a mug of hot cocoa to break up some shopping. 

Why: It's a CHOCOLATE bar. Enough said.
