Want It Wednesday - A New England Welcome

Nothing says New England quite like the...pineapple? Believe it or not, the delicious tropical fruit is a historic symbol of hospitality in New England, with nautical roots.

In the 17th century, sea captains from New England sailed among the Caribbean & returned to the colonies with cargo of fruits, spices, and rum. Upon their return from sea, captains would place a pineapple outside of their homes to signify that they had arrived home safely. The pineapple was an invitation for friends and family to visit, share food and drinks, and listen to tales of the captain's voyage.
