Head of the Charles

This past Sunday, with vanilla pumpkin spiced lattes in hand, we walked over to Cambridge for the 50th Head of the Charles regatta. It started out as a beautiful Fall day, with the sun shining. We perused the tents and booths on the Cambridge side of the river (and were tempted by all of the delicious food tents...hello Ruth's Chris), and then crossed over to Reunion Village to meet friends and cheer on the rowers.

Day Tripper: Boston Harbor Islands

A few weeks ago, my family came to town to visit. The weather was perfect, so we hopped on a ferry to Georges Island in Boston Harbor for a day of exploring. We started with lunch at the snack shack, stopped in the Visitor Center, then wandered through Fort Warren. The fort was built at the time of the Civil War, and was used to defend Boston Harbor through the end of World War II. In addition to being an important piece of history, the fort provides amazing views of the skyline (and some spooky tunnels and chambers below). The day ended perfectly with a smooth journey back to the city, complete with a Sam Summer in hand. This was my second time heading out to the Boston Harbor Islands, and it most certainly will not be my last.

From Work to Play

I love my J.Crew Minnie pants, and can be seen wearing a them to work atleast once a week with a button down, sweater, necklace, and heels. To transition the outfit from work to play, I switched out the belt to a fun yellow, threw on a comfy pair of Converse, and traded my work bag for a tote. Such a comfortable outfit, and in two of my favorite colors (as you can see from my wedding)!

PS> My nails are painted in Essie's Fiji, which is one of my favorite colors for summer!

Sand Sculptures at Revere Beach

What's more impressive than a perfectly sculpted, super detailed work of art? One that's made entirely of beach sand. We took a trip down to Revere Beach this weekend to check out the national Sand Sculpting Festival and were amazed by what we found. The detail on these pieces was incredible! As inspired as we were, I think we'll stick to laying in the sand and leave the sculpting to the pros.

Unexpected Finds

I find myself shopping at the same places time and time again. It's great to have favorite spots where I know my sizing and know I'm getting good quality. But I often need to remind myself that there are other things out there. This outfit is put together with some finds from shops I don't frequent and brands I'm not as familiar with. Yet I love each and every piece! Just a friendly reminder to branch out and don't be afraid to try something new.

Day to Night - Tassels and Bows

Last week Lindsey shared her Day to Night look, and today is Amanda's turn. This dress is from eShakti, an online retailer (with some adorable stuff) that will customize any order to your specific measurements and style. Such a great idea.

We loved this summery, yellow dress with its classic cut and fun bow. For the daytime look, Amanda wore the bow in the front and paired the dress with her Jacks, a simple necklace, and tote for a casual look. To bring the dress into the evening, she moved the bow to the back and paired it with browns and blacks.

eShakti is also providing a 10% discount to our readers. Enter the code 'buoyes' through Saturday!

Daytime: Dress - eShakti; Tote - Old Navy; Shoes - Jack Rogers; Necklace - J. Crew Factory (old); Bracelet - Oh Buoy Boston
Evening: Necklace - J.Crew (old); Heels - from DSW (old); Bag - J. Crew Factory

Day to Night - Black & White and Pink All Over

It can be difficult to find the transition of one piece of clothing from day to night. The color in this dress is bold enough to stand on it's own, so I've used the combo of black and white to carry it across a full day. A big white bag and cute flip flops bring out the day time look. Adding more black to the outfit with a clutch and strappy heels, along with a white blazer pull the dress into the evening.
